tarpan

October 4th 1980, Mataji Jyotirmayi - Shri Yogeshwarji's mother left for heavenly abode after receiving exemplary service at the hands of Shri Yogeshwarji and Maa Sarveshwari.  In spite of having previous knowledge about her final illness and ultimate departure from her physical frame, Yogeshwarji served his mother like an ideal son.  Her final illness lasted for almost two month and in the end Mataji passed away at Bhavnagar in Gujarat.

Yogeshwarji had a special affection for his mother as she was not merely his mother but also witness to his arduous penance in the holy Himalayas. During their stay in the Himalayas, there were no facilities.  Deep in the forest, in a small hut Yogeshwarji used to immerse himself in meditation for most part of the day. Mataji used to cook food and wait for Yogeshwarji to wake up from his meditative state. In a place full of snake and other wild animals, Mataji dared to stay with her son. Her faith in God was unshakable. For the last thirty two years of her life, Mataji stayed with her son like a shadow. She accompanied Yogeshwarji to innumerable pilgrim places in India as well as on his two spiritual lecture tours to UK, USA and Canada.

When Yogeshwarji was just nine years old, Mataji lost Yogeshwarji's father in a sudden illness and became widow in her young age. Most part of her life was filled with struggle, still she faced it with a smile. She wholeheartedly supported Yogeshwarji, her only son when he decided not to marry and to go to Himalayas for spiritual advancement.

It was but natural that Mataji's departure mean so much to Yogeshwarji. Mataji passed away at the age of 78. Being a saint and literate, Yogeshwarji decided to pay tribute to her mother by writing at least 78 poems. 'TARPAN' is a literary manifestation of Yogeshwarji's tribute to his mother.

God writes the gospel not in the Bible alone, but on trees and flowers, and clouds, and stars.
